Chicago, IL—Chicago’s politicians have steadily used the police pension fund as their personal ATMs looting millions. It’s no secret it will fail at some point soon.
Were the board members asleep while this was happening? Were they complicit or just negligent? One thing for sure the pension was not aggressively protected or it would be solvent today.
Retired officer, Rosemarie Giambalvo has fought for the rights of disabled officers for many years. She’s fought for retirees along with the disabled too.
Ro really earned a spot on the Pension Board and now needs the votes to make it happen. I anticipate Ro flashing her razor sharp bulldog teeth and making life really miserable for those victimizing retirees. Ro will never get in bed with the city politicians and administrators.
It’s long past time to bring new watchdogs to secure retirement of Chicago cops. Vote for Ro!
Los Angeles, CA—The future is already here and so many adults have been left in the dirt. They like all of us communicate by voice and in writing. However technology has given all of us huge megaphones. The Internet came and so did huge advances in video-making equipment. While most of us were sleeping, Democracy suddenly came to mass media.
You no longer had to be rich like William Randolph Hearst who could afford huge printing presses and bought ink by the barrel to get your message out to millions. David Sarnoff and a handful of others created the radio and television empire, RCA that morphed into NBC. It took untold billions in equipment for RCA to broadcast moving pictures with sound to their fellow Americans.
That’s all changed now with a computer and as little as $500.00 in equipment anyone can create and broadcast watchable video on the World Wide Web. That video is far superior to what was routinely broadcast on television 35 years ago. Video equipment is both a lot cheaper and better than ever before.
Our children are either hunkered down texting gibberish with their smart phones or worse with those disturbing and violent video games. Instead they could be learning the art of communicating with the world via their very own created videos.
Rather than shooting up the school and kids they have problems with using guns they could expose the crummy teachers and school bullies with clever videos. Video making is raw empowerment and will be for as long as we have Free Speech. Of course along with that immense power comes responsibility, which our children must eventually learn.
Soon we will find that people, who are video illiterate, are just as handicapped as those that can neither read nor write.
If you have a child, your absolute duty is to make sure he or she has the skills to read, write, tell coherent stories, photograph, edit and post watchable video. These are simple and fun disciplines to learn and the satisfaction of creating is what we all want our children to discover.
Schools are slow to adapt to technology so you’ll have to find other sources to teach your children.
The modern camera drones are also a great way to introduce your children to the joys and empowerment of video making, editing and posting their creations on the Internet.
Manhattan Beach, CA—I met with my favorite Media Guru, Michael Rosenblum yesterday. He’s a long time TV producer and founder of TheVJ.com.Michael is giving 30 rookie Video Journalists their hands on training to cover news for Spectrum’s SOCAL-1, 24/7 news startup.I suspect there’s no doubt that this offering will shake up the L.A. news market in a big way.
Gone at SOCAL News1 are the news crews and the obscenely expensive TV gear. The news stories will either work or fail through the individual efforts of these hand picked youngsters. These lucky VJ’s will be seen by all manner of agents, producers and TV network decision makers. Those talented ones, that shine will have unlimited opportunities.
Spectrum has already done the same thing in NYC and this concept is spreading over the nation. Traditional TV new is in a death spiral over their insane fear of making the slightest changes in format or style. Frankly people have flocked to YouTube because their content is a huge departure into a new world of wonderful technology and real eye candy.
Storytelling today is enhanced with wonderful inexpensive user-friendly cameras, audio equipment, editing software and even drones! The Mainstream broadcast media and their overpaid news managers are being left behind in the dirt.
Vloggers like me will only have success if I post great content and promote it daily. That’s easier said than done. If I do that, I demand compensation now, not after six months or a year. My rent does not pay itself. I won’t be one of the dozens of YouTube multi-millionaires anytime soon. I will however be ready for the right opportunity.
The skills and abilities to vlog about whatever you like is beyond empowering! You can use a vlog to promote yourself, business, hobby or political ambitions. You can report news items you come across and so much more.
You must begin with the basics of good writing and storytelling abilities. You must snag your viewers right away with interesting video or you’re toast. When they leave they will not return.
You can easily spend $25K on vlogging equipment. I have what I need but I still want a lot more. Then there is that significant issue of lugging all that expensive crap around as you travel. I say go light!
Your editing suite can be as simple as a quiet place to use the incredibly powerful iMovie app on your cell phone or iPad. Using Final Cut Pro X on a laptop gives you more options but you can get very pleasing results with iMovie.
I like using GoPro cameras because of the versatility of the cameras and the high quality images. I may need my cell phone as a communication device so having the GoPro is a plus.
As for audio your iPhone or GoPro cameras can disappoint especially beyond let's say, six feet. I now use Zoom brand recorders to capture audio especially for interviewing subjects. I’ve not been using my expensive wireless microphones because they are less reliable than the simple Zoom recorders. Quality wireless microphones cost a bundle more than the terrific Zoom recorders.
I have one word to say about audio, redundancy. Better to have more sources than less.
Let me make this clear, if you’re lucky enough to be around a really important news happening and you’ve got viewable video documentation, you can demand as much as $100K for a one minute video.
VJ training can be obtained on line at Michael Rosenblum’s TheVJ.com or you can attend his class in NYC or the UK.
Be empowered and let the world see what you create!
My Minimalist vlogger kit is lightweight, easy for travel and a lifesaver. The best camera is always the one you have with you.
The list as pictured above:
iPhone
iPad
DJI Mavic Pro Drone
Zoom Hn4 microphone recorder
Zoom Field Recorder 1
Lav mic
Zoom Shotgun mic capsule for use with Field Recorder 1
Earphones

Below is a fun GoPro vlog I did during a trip to Chicago last February:
Los Angeles, CA--LAPD Public relations people are spinning like a top to somehow sanitize their killing of a hostage. Frankly they should have incapacitated or shot the offender dead before he was able to grab his innocent hostage. Officers managed to actually kill the hostage with two misplaced rounds. The offender, a career piece of shit, deserved his fate. Could this be the result of cops being fearful of Leftist and minority political retaliation? Did they wait until the situation was even more dire and out of control before they shot this bastard? The LAPD officer's Marksmanship is way over-rated in movies and television! Additional police training cost money that the Democratic City Administration would rather waste elsewhere instead.
Los Angeles, CA--It all began as a dispute between a 28 year-old drug addicted freeloader, Gene Adkins and his 79 year-old grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Madison in South L.A.
Adkins allegedly shot his grandmother seven times with a handgun. In the process a 20 year-old woman that was Adkin’s yet to be identified girlfriend suffered a bullet graze wound to her head. Adkins allegedly then stole his grandmother’s car and kidnapped the girlfriend.
Suspect Gene Adkins being loaded into an ambulance
In Hollywood, the police caught up with the stolen car that was equipped with a GPS tracking device and the chase began.
Adkins soon crashed his car near the entrance of the Silver Lake Trader Joe’s and was exchanging gunfire with police as he sought refuge inside of the crowded supermarket. Apparently Adkins was wounded in his left arm by police. That’s when the store manager, Melyda “Mel” Corado was also struck by gunfire. Corado was quickly dragged outside to the parking lot and unsuccessfully aided by numerous officers. She died at the scene.
Melyda "Mel" Corado surrounded by cops in the parking lot
Cops have to make split second decisions but firing into a crowded supermarket at any suspect is absolutely against police training in every American jurisdiction.
Requirements everywhere in the USA are that before an officer shoots that that he or she knows the target and what’s behind it. This shooting is out of policy everywhere.
Ballistic evidence, body cam and other surveillance video will be examined redundantly by cops, lawyers and police trainers in the coming months and even years.
Sherman Oaks Personal Injury Lawyer Lowell Steiger
I contacted Sherman Oaks personal injury lawyer, Lowell Steiger for his thoughts about the case. Steiger said if he had the case he’d be immediately looking at deficiencies in the officer’s training, background and supervision. He said any payout by a jury in this case could be astronomical. He also said he’d put his own investigator on this case immediately.
Another serious legal question may be about Trader Joe’s responsibility to protect their employees and customers.
The biggest question remains as to when and how the LAPD will explain this disaster and own up to their failings.
As for the cop/s that failed here it’s a huge tragedy for them and their families as well. Nobody wanted this horrible outcome.
As for the many friends and family of Mel Carado this is beyond a heartbreak. Mel’s Big brother, Albert Corado now must take charge of healing his family from this unthinkable event.
As for the Suspect, Gene Adkins, he will be charged under the felony/murder rule for Mel Corado’s death. He will also face as many as 50 counts of kidnapping along with the shooting of his grandmother and girlfriend. Last but not least, the theft of his grandmother’s car. Adkins will never see another moment where he’s not locked in a cage for as long as he lives.
As for any cops that failed, they too will pay a high price. As for the rest of the cops that did their jobs heroically, they too will suffer greatly. Sometimes everyone looses because of the unthinkable.
Update: The day after I published this blog article the LAPD confessed it was their gunfire that killed Ms. Carado. However, they stopped short of admitting liability, negligence or recklessness.
Chicago, IL—Dick Wolfe is a prolific and wildly successful writer and producer.Everything he puts a pen to, is absolutely golden. That is, except his offering called, Chicago Justice.
Wolf replaced the grit and smell of courtrooms and death with silk stockinged lawyers from Ivy League schools working as prosecutors and criminal defense lawyers. That’s just not Chicago.
If you’ve ever been in a Cook County Criminal Court the first thing you notice is the lawyers, especially the males dress down. They for the most part attended the local law schools like DePaul, John Marshall and ITT Chicago Kent. These schools are more affordable but the alumni find that their job offers are limited. Let me make it clear that many terrific and dedicated lawyers attend these schools.
Chicago’s criminal lawyers are local lads that attend Cubs games, eat hotdogs and drink beer. These lawyers are not known for their expensive suit labels but far from it. There are of course the occasional mob lawyers or white-collar crime specialists that fit inside Dick Wolf’s legal world.
The files handled by Chicago criminal lawyers are almost all in in tattered folders. Plea agreements are cut in the hallways or even local watering holes where the lawyers meet after work. Very few criminal cases are actually tried before a judge or jury. It may not look pretty but at least its real.
Chicago crimes are despicable as are most of the defendants. In Cook County the vast majority of defendants are African-American, angry and poor. Frankly they actually have a foul odor about them. They hate their public defenders as well as the whole world. You can’t put lipstick on this pig and then make this kind of thing believable.
A better title might have been Chicago Injustice. If the public really knew what goes on in Chicago Criminal Courts, they’d be shocked. Political decisions have replaced concerns for public safety.
Chicago’s politicians would go out of their way to destroy Wolf’s Chicago Franchise if he refused to sanitize the much darker reality.
I’m convinced if I were writing and producing Chicago PD, Chicago Fire and Chicago Justice it would get worldwide attention.
I auditioned for Chicago Justice. The show was cancelled before I could get any consideration. Frankly the show was a clinker. Here is my audition that I also wrote. I’m a felony review supervisor explaining to a young cop’s mother why I let three thugs go that are suspected of critically wounding her son. The implied hint is that this was more about race relations and politics than justice.
Studio City, CA—On Ventura Blvd, in this upscale Coldwater Curve Area area are various boutiques that cater to the glamorous local ladies. One such small business is, Dana Kathryn Jewelry. The owner, who has personally suffered at least three earlier violent robberies, staffs this small elegant shop.
They say many Conservatives were Liberals that were once mugged. There is a lot of truth in that statement here.
The shop’s owner, Dana Kathryn had taken several steps to prevent her business from being victimized. In addition to an alarm with surveillance cameras she acquired a beautiful German Sheppard dog, Charlie and a gun that may have just saved her life.
Yesterday two thugs entered her shop, assaulted her along with two customers with a powerful disabling chemical spray. They then used a hammer to destroy jewelry display cases and they were in the act of scooping up jewelry. Dana Kathryn was able to produce her gun and fired shots at the men terrorizing her and her patrons. The robbers escaped by fleeing Northbound on Ventura Blvd.
Police responded along with paramedics. All the women were treated for the chemical burns on their faces. Two women were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
I don’t know how Dana Kathryn will cope with this latest trauma. She’s simply trying to earn a living, pay extortionate California taxes and survive. My heart goes out to her once again. I met Dana Kathryn a year ago and she was unhappy with my somewhat Conservative blog that was critical of Mr. Obama. I bet she’s now rethinking the folly of supporting any Democrats.
This beleaguered woman took every precaution she could to keep herself and customers safe. Obviously it was not enough. Los Angeles became a “Sanctuary City” defying Federal Immigration laws. Additionally California has been releasing thousands of violent criminals from the state’s prisons shaving years of their already, too short sentences. These policies absolutely have only brought more victimization to California’s citizens.
These violent mutants are simply out roaming the streets looking for things to steal and people to harm. They’ve been enabled and facilitated by the policies of Liberal politicians in a deliberate effort to make taxpaying citizens more dependent on government for their basic survival. Of course concealed weapons permits are totally banned for those people living in or anywhere near Los Angeles.
Californians must resist the criminals and their Democratic politicians if they want to survive. They must ignore those numerous gun laws that blatantly violate their civil rights.
I suspect that the next time Dana Katheryn enters a voting booth she will vote out those responsible for this crime threat.
Dana Kathryn has my full support, sympathies and best wishes. She’s now a certified combat veteran in the war on crime. I hope she stays tough, keeps her shop open and is fully supported by her community.
Hitler’s Hollywood, is a a documentary film about how Joseph Goebbels reinvented Hollywood film making for the Third Reich.
After completely cleansing Jews out of filmmaking, Goebbels used the relatively new media of talkie films to legitimize anti-Semitism and euthanasia as he glorified the concept of people sacrificing their own lives for the honor of the Third Reich.
Goebbels was able to oversee the subtle mixture of entertainment, art and propaganda to indoctrinate Germany and soon all of Europe.
There was no television during the Nazi administration 1933-1945 so attending your local movie house was your only option for seeing films.
Before you could enjoy the Nazi entertainment film at your local theaters they’d show a newsreel (Fake News) film. There were potentially serious consequences for those movie goers that came to movie houses purposly late avoiding the newsreels. That was seen as a form of resistance by the Nazis.
This mixture of entertainment, art and indoctrination was not lost on our own Hollywood. They later used films to legitimize homosexuality, gender confusion along with various societal and politically unAmerican aberrations.
As we enter the age of YouTube and citizen journalism the mixture of entertainment and diverse propaganda is now in its own Renaissance Period. Today nearly anyone can create video Media to promote whatever they please.
Free speech is all about diversity of opinion. The efforts to control and censor video content has become a hot button in our new media society. It’s all fun until others want to silence your voice or content.
As for this Documentary film, Hitler’s Hollywood, the grand and nefarious scheme of creating and shaping popular public opinion is laid out for all to see. Below is the trailer.
Gilbert, Arizona—It’s with great sadness that I must report on the death of Phoenix, Uber-Lawyer, Richard D. Gierloff this past Monday (04-09-18).
Richard was my personal lawyer, mentor and friend for well over three decades. He handled criminal cases exclusively, including many death penalty matters. He took on each case as a matter of life and death for his clients. He never undertook his duties in a lighthearted manner. Richard was a very meticulous winner.
Richard began his working life as a drug abuse counselor; soon he entered the University of Arizona Law School. He went on to become one of Arizona’s greatest lawyers. I was really pleased to work as his investigator on so many high profile cases. Together we had many great victories.
Richard was stricken with throat cancer last year and waged a courageous battle. He was forced to shut down his law practice and withdraw his State Bar Admission. He knew things were very serious.
Soon a special lady that was a longtime girlfriend, Christine Berry suddenly became Richard’s caretaker. Christine lovingly took care of Richard’s needs as he was in the biggest challenge of his life.
I was able to visit Richard and Christine last month. Richard was still confidant and fighting. He was however, so frail and thin. Considering this was a man that always ate right and did daily gym workouts this was so grossly unfair.
Richard surprised me by telling me I was invited to finally see something that should have happened years ago. Richard and Christine were to be married on April 21st. Instead of a wedding, I’ll be attending his final sendoff. If I know Richard, he will be vigorously advocating for people waiting at Saint Peter’s Gate.
As for the rest of us, we lost a giant of a man. He has saved and changed many lives. Richard Gierloff is a real hero that will never be forgotten.
Richard is survived by his true love, Christine and his adult daughter, Nora Gierloff.
In Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority best known as the CTA once had its own police department. There were about 100 male cops that were called, CTA dicks.
They were trained and armed to deal with the muggers, sex offenders and fare jumpers that always plague public transit.
There was a slight problem. Since they wore plain clothes and were a predominantly white group they were choice targets of roving groups of black criminals.
The CTA dicks were sending more thugs to the hereafter then any police agency in the state of Illinois including Chicago cops. Most of these shootings were somehow magically kept out of the news!
The vast majority of the thugs killed by the CTA dicks were career felons. Others were youngsters just beginning their lives of crime.
The bogus screams of racism and murder by cops became a PR nightmare. So in the early 1970s they put all the CTA dicks in green uniforms and put them in patrol cars guarding CTA bus barns where nothing bad ever happens. Soon they disbanded this entire department.
The Chicago Police Department then created their Mass Transit uniformed Unit. For a while they included some undercover officers but they too were targeted by unsuspecting black thugs. After a few more Justifiable shootings they pulled nearly all plain-clothed officers from this duty.
So today you have the grandsons of the old thugs that wear hoodies to defeat the new technology surveillance cameras. They are pretty much guaranteed of no undercover police interference with their crimes.
The politicians made the CTA property a, GUN FREE ZONE to deter potential robbery or rape victims from shooting the the well protected thugs roaming the Windy City!
That’s a sad but realistic view of our society that tolerates ignorance despite our taxpayer funded public education.
Our massive immigration invitation to the worlds poor and illiterate combined with acceptance of their refusal to learn how to read and write has become a major crisis.
Too many of our own children, particularly Blacks and Hispanics are allowed to reject the tools needed to escape a lifetime of financial dependency.
Our illiterates are doomed to only receive communication rather than creating and influencing their world. The future is in clearly creating watchable video. Government, businesses, news providers and entertainers must cater to our illiterate society.
Of course video communication is now superior to any other form. Being able to create exceptional video will be the ultimate influencing skill.
We must equip our children with the tools and resources so they are not allowed to fail.
The best camera ever is the one you have at the moment. For billions of people that is the smart phone. The very young and even our senior citizens can easily master the iPhone and iMovie editing software.
The versatility of more sophisticated camera equipment and microphones do have distinct advantages. But we all must begin somewhere.
There are many special ways of creating watchable eye candy that traps and holds the viewers enabling you to get your messages to the masses.
Do you really have a choice about learning this amazing technology? The good news is really satisfying and fun! It’s truly empowering!
Los Angeles, CA—I’ve worked in TV news as an investigative
freelancer for nearly 30 years. I never
sought nor obtained a formal journalism education but was drafted into TV news strictly
for my investigative ability. I was
lucky to be given a, second to none, on the job journalism education by many gifted
reporters, producers, media lawyers and
TV news consultants.
For the last 15 years I’ve watched the slow death of news,
as we knew it.News consumers have left
broadcast and print news in droves. They’ve escaped to Internet bloggers and
vloggers for their information.
Left behind are the folks that simply never learned
computers or even smart phones.Because
they’re technophobes they’ve become a captive audience for television and print
news. Then there are the illiterate and
poor.Few of these folks are great
targets for advertisers other than drug and reverse mortgage companies.
I think print is failing as society has moved away from
reading or even writing to video or voice. Its sad but simple literacy has been on the decline in America since the
invention of radio and TV.
Despite vast technology changes TV news has changed little
since the days of Edward R. Murrow.A TV
news anchor sits at a desk and drones on from a teleprompter.Reporters in the field tell their stories all
in identical fashion. In this mix is
nearly zero originality or creativity. Every
channel is virtually the same! To add insult they even run their segments of
news, weather and sports at the same time.Even the commercials are run in identical time slots.
Murrow has been dead for over five decades!Since then technology and our capabilities
have changed dramatically.Still the
suits running TV news are too cowardly to change with the times.
However ownership of big media has introduced massive
amounts of political propaganda.The
endless talking heads claiming to be experts in government do little more than
alienate 50% of the audience. Today you get a little news while the
talking heads tell you who to hate!Anymore, it’s never a case of, “We deliver and You Decide. “It’s more about, we tell you what to think.
The lack of creativity along with the over-abundance of
Leftist opinion is killing broadcast news. The serious decline in literate Americans at the same time is destroying print news.
YouTube has really broken the mold. They’ve somewhat democratized the process of
just who is allowed to produce video content. It’s true that most offerings are experimental crappy video made by those
that don’t yet have a clue.However some
have developed both terrific video making skills and personality.Over time they’ve learned the craft quite
well.
There the Internet standouts that became millionaires like
Casey Neistat. They don’t provide news, just diversions and entertainment.Others run the gamut of the political
spectrum.Nobody seems to provide pure
news anymore.
Because of serious competition TV News business must be like
Barnum and Baily’s Greatest Show on Earth, or it will simply fail today.TV news must learn from talented bloggers
like Neistat who can make a creative and interesting story out of something as
boring as paint drying.Our audiences
that advertisers count on are not sophisticated or particularly wise. There is that thing called, the lowest common
denominator and they need to be entertained with serious eye candy and music.
If TV news wants to survive they need the millennials.TV news has no choice but to quickly learn
from Casey Neistat and move forward.
Avoiding controversial editorial opinions is also something
that can unify rather than divide and jettison your audience.
