A Goddess Has Died, Bettie Page was 85

Los Angeles, CA—1950’s pinup queen, Bettie Page has passed away. Page was hospitalized here for pneumonia more than a month ago. She suffered a heart attack as she was about to be sent home. Paige never regained consciousness and died nine days later.

Page’s sensuous photos covered the globe in the 1950s when really tame material was considered pornography under the laws of most states. Page did not get her share of the vast financial reward for her images that were constantly being republished everywhere despite copyright laws.

Page was an original Playboy Magazine centerfold and her images were carefully hidden under the mattresses of teenage boys everywhere.

Page was really more like the girl next door rather than the hot sex kitten her picture poses demonstrated. Page seemed to be a victim of exploitation never winning the legitimate stardom she deserved.

Actress Gretchen Mol did a bang up job of playing Page in the movie, The Notorious Bette Page. If you’re a fan of Page like I am seeing that film is a must.

Update: 11/16/08—Westwood Memorial Park was the location of the memorial service and internment of the pinup legend. Present was Playboy founder Hugh Heffner, the famous stripper Tempest Storm and a legion of young women inspired by Page.

I was somewhat concerned Page would not get the prestigious resting place she deserved. I worry no more because Page has a great space yards away from Marilyn Monroe and scores of other entertainment stars who have made the world a better place. I will post pictures whenever her grave marker is completed.

When Hugh Heffner learned Page was having financial trouble and mental health problems he jumped in and rescued Page. I suspect he also contributed to her high priced final piece of real estate. Hef has demonstrated he has both heart and some real class.

Odds Are Recovered Child Remains Are Caylee Anthony’s

Orlando, FL—Skeletal remains of a small female child were found today within blocks of missing three year-year old, Caylee Anthony. A utility worker found the remains that were wrapped in a plastic garbage bag and duct tape.

This is either a murder or a covered up accidental death. The cause of death will be a challenge to determine after six months and the advanced decomposition. Speculation will continue.

I suspect the girl’s brain may contain traces of chloroform. Police believe that chemical was involved as a tool to keep the girl asleep while her mother partied. Perhaps this will bring about the closure of part or all of the mystery. This also my only bring more questions than answers.

I don’t expect that the girl’s mother will be more willing to talk because of this. The discovery may however hasten a guilty plea of Casey Anthony who is already facing murder charges.

We can expect police to obtain yet another search warrant to look for plastic and duct tape at the Anthony home to match to the what was found with the remains.

The Ruffalo Shooting And The Beverly Hills Police Investigation

Beverly Hills, CA—It was an awful and tragic event that brought Beverly Hills police to the home of actor Mark Ruffalo’s brother Scott Ruffalo. He suffered a gunshot wound to his head and was unconscious. Ruffalo later died.

Police became aware that others were present and put out a dragnet to locate and detain them.

There is a big rub here. Witnesses or offenders are not required to talk to police. Witness can be compelled by court order to testify unless they assert their rights against self-incrimination. The primary suspect was 26 year-old Shaha Mishaal Adham. This woman did not hang around the scene nor was she required to do so. A 911 call was made and help was on the way.

The apparent evidence indicated that Ruffalo was playing Russian Roulette and that the wound was self-inflicted. Generally this can be proven by tests for gunshot residue. Positioning evidence of the gun to skin can and generally will show either contact or close to contact gun muzzle distances.

Suspect Adham entered the Beverly Hills Police Department later, and was arrested. She retained lawyer, Ronald Richards. After hours of discussion police released Adham and announced she had been cleared.

That clearance is not set in stone if other evidence can establish Probable Cause. I don’t expect that to happen.

Toxicological testing is a painfully slow process and will eventually show if and what intoxicating chemical substances Ruffalo has been using if that were the case.

Not every violent death is a murder and innocent people often leave the scene of frightening events. Leaving the scene of such an event and the failure or refusal to talk to police is no crime, but your absolute right. Talking to police without an attorney present is always a terrible idea.

Good Advice for Governor Rod Blagojevich

Start Snitching!

Arizona Reporter’s Killing To Be A Major Motion Picture

Phoenix, AZ—It was a warm June day in 1976. It was nearing lunch time when in the Central Phoenix, Clarendon Hotel parking lot there was a loud explosion. Emergency responders found a severely injured man in a mangled small white Datun agonizing in pain. A remote controlled bomb that had been attached under the driver’s seat by magnets did the job it was designed to do.

The man was transported to the nearby Str. Joseph’s Hospital where he suffered with the loss of both legs for no less than ten days before his injuries took his life.

Soon the explosion was heard in newsrooms throughout the world. The victim, reporter, Don Bolles would become a legend. What followed was some of the worst police work in Arizona history.

Reporters from throughout the country all descended on Phoenix and virtually took over the police investigation. The problem was they weren’t cops. They knew a lot about conducting the paper chase of public records but they did not understand police work or the criminal justice process.

Bolles death became known as the Arizona Project and brought about the birth of the venerable Investigative Reporters and Editors organization.

The litigation both criminal and civil went on for decades. Death sentences were handed out and later, set aside. Multiple trials were held and over many years I made a significant portion of my living off of various related investigations. Today one man, Max Dunlap remains in the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis Southwest of Phoenix after his second conviction for the crime.

It was believed that Bolles was blown up over his unflattering news stories about the late Arizona businessman Kemper Marley, Sr. Like any major mystery conspiracy theories were the talk of the nation’s newsrooms. Police had to rely on physical evidence, and the stories of the people rounded up as a result of the investigation. Sorting out the truth was an impossible task.

The vicious bombing death and the fallout led to a lot of changes both in Arizona law enforcement and Newsrooms. After Bolles the Phoenix Police Department made their offices off limits to reporters, who formerly had the run of the place.

Ben Affleck and Miramax Films along with producer Sean Bailey are working hard to share this compelling story to a theater near you.

News Media Shows Ignorance Of The Law Over Blagojevich Arrest.

Los Angeles, CA—I’m watching news coverage and reading major news media stories about Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. A great number of reporters are talking about the "indictment" of the governor on corruption charges.

There is just one giant problem and that’s Governor Blagojevich has not been indicted. That is expected to happen soon but right now he was arrested on a criminal complaint with an attached sworn affidavit. I guess the reporters and producers just don’t understand the process and don’t research the crap they write.

Do a Google search on Blagojevich and indictment and you will see the offenders for yourself.

The US Attorney’s office made a solid press release and a copy of the criminal complaint available to everyone and anyone who wanted it. I posted the material on this blog and the word indictment or Grand Jury can’t be found anywhere.

Prosecutors now have limited time to get a Grand Jury to return an indictment. When it comes there will be more than two names and a whole gang of new charges. The hapless Governor and his Chief of Staff along with additional defendants will have to attend an arraignment after that happens.

If prosecutors are tardy with an indictment the present case will be dismissed. That’s not a problem because they are free to re-charge Blagojevich with the indictment.

In the mean time perhaps some news directors and editors need to educate their hired help.

Chicago’s Democratic Politicians are extortionist and Thugs

Chicago,IL—After patronage was somewhat abolished by a 1969 court decision called the Shakman Decree and several years of follow-up litigation the Democrats changed their direction.

Since the army of patronage workers was decimated by Shakman the politicians turned to government contractors to fund the campaigns with cold hard cash. This went so far out-of-control that government in Illinois was ruled by extortion and bribery.

It’s impossible for anyone to become an Illinois Senator or a presidential candidate without out being inside of the thick of the criminal cabal. There is no way for President-Elect Barack Obama to escape the taint of business as usual in Illinois corruption. Of course the investigation could be shut down and derailed by additional criminal conspiracies at the highest levels.

The arrest of Governor Rod Blagojevich is just the tip of a giant iceberg. I would expect to see the rats in Cook County biting each other as they get into survival mode to avoid arrest, indictment and prison. The criminal lawyers will be making a killing over the next three years dealing with the fallout that is expected.

The biggest fish of all, Barack Obama is not immune from the sword of justice as others try to sell their information as a way to leverage their own fate in the courts.

The fallout will mean that criminal defense lawyers, defense investigators and forensic accountants will not be suffering during any recession in the Chicago area. They will have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

IL Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich, Aid Arrested For Corruption!

I can't wait to see the harvest of damaging documents and other evidence captured as a result of the search warrants they are serving today all over Chicago...

From the press release issued by The U. S. Attorney’s Office:

"CHICAGO Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents on federal corruption charges alleging that they and others are engaging in ongoing criminal activity: conspiring to obtain personal financial benefits for Blagojevich by leveraging his sole authority to appoint a United States Senator; threatening to withhold substantial state assistance to the Tribune Company in connection with the sale of Wrigley Field to induce the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members sharply critical of Blagojevich; and to obtain campaign contributions in exchange for official actions – both historically and now in a push before a new state ethics law takes effect January 1, 2009.

Blagojevich, 51, and Harris, 46, both of Chicago, were each charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery. They were charged in a two-count criminal complaint that was sworn out on Sunday and unsealed today following their arrests, which occurred without incident, announced Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Both men were expected to appear later today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan in U.S. District Court in Chicago."

You thought our economy is a mess? You’re wrong!

Fred Thomson explains the whole enchilada!

My advice? Be smart; use your stimulus check from the government to buy guns and ammunition!

Another Non-violent Gun Owner Goes To Prison

Phoenix, AZ—62, year-old Prescott resident, Gerald James Brown is going to prison for two years. Why you ask? He had a simple semi-automatic shotgun and a silencer. Since he evaded the bogus $200.00 tax on each item taxpayers will house, feed him and take care of his medical needs in a federal prison.

His "crime" is no crime. He possessed arms. They tried to tax another right but our courts said taxing rights was unconstitutional. Remember Poll Taxes? How is this different?

What threat is this old fellow? Who did he kill, injure or threaten? Unconstitutional gun laws have just claimed another American.

Crimefile Was Invited To A Fabulous Holliday Party

Westwood, Los Angeles, CA—I’m a member of an exclusive club. Membership is earned by honorable service in the Armed Forces of The United States. Most of the dopes in our Congress view America’s military veterans as cramping their lifestyle. That as they’ve drastically cut benefits to the very people they count on to allow them to exist and hold office in a free country.

In LA as in other communities there are fine people that appreciate the contribution American made to military service. Whether they were drafted like I was or they who have enlisted the risk of life, limb and the loss of personal freedom that military service requires is a sacrifice.

To hold this event several hundred contributors and volunteers made a sacrifice of their own. These folks these are some finest, real Americans that make this country strong and free. No man would fight for his country without the love and support of neighbors, friends and family.

Every veteran including myself received love, gifts, a tasty holiday meal, and were entertained by the best L.A. has to offer.

For all of my fabulous hosts and entertainers let me say, THANK YOU!

Nevada Reverses Kidnapping Case And It Will Help O.J. Simpson

Las Vegas, NV—This Sunday morning O.J. Simpson faces what may be the rest of his life in a Nevada prison. Odds are that without divine intervention the 61 year-old may not live long enough to make parole. He must serve at least nine years and parole is far from guaranteed after serving that minimum portion of the 9 to 33 year sentence.

There is however a somewhat recent case that reversed a kidnapping conviction on a much more egregious case. This suggests that Simpson was over-charged and over-convicted for what should have been a simple armed robbery.

An appeal citing this November 2006 case, may well get Simpson a second chance at a much lighter sentence. Appeals move very slowly and Simpson will be sitting in prison for as long as a couple of years before the Nevada Supreme Court hears and decides his case. In case you were wondering Nevada has no Court of Appeals so his case goes directly to the Nevada Supreme Court.

Simpson’s co-defendant, Stewart will get the same benefit from the ruling. Rather then win new trials these convicts will be re-sentenced on the lesser charge.

You can read the new case below...

Chicago Parking Meter Outrage Fix Is Simple

Chicago, IL—Chicago’s Mayor and Aldermen approved a plan to make Chicagoans even more miserable than they are as some of the most overtaxed citizens in the nation.

They are going to let private vendors handle the meters and soon to be increased fees. This hurts business, jobs and citizens alike. Chicago's rank and file cops hate this meter extortion too.

What’s the solution you ask? That’s just too simple, crazy glue, washers, and courage. Hammers and pipe cutter work wonders too. If the meters are destroyed they can’t be used to extort money from anyone. If the cost of meter repair exceeds the revenue they are gone. That’s pure and simple.

The only question I ask Americans is whether or not the participants in the Boston Tea Party would tolerate parking meter extortion by any government?

Don't snitch on meter vandals!

If you’re picked to sit on a jury for someone accused of parking meter vandalism simply acquit that defendant. Shake his or her hand after the trial and government may just get the message!

BATFE Gun Trace Data Is Worthless As An Indicator Of Criminal Use Of Firearms.

To suggest that all guns traced by BATFE were used in a crime is a flat ignorant statement at best or an outright lie. Gun control groups are always calling traced guns “guns used in crimes” when they are not.

Gun control groups whine that most all traced guns come from the gun friendly Southern states. That’s true of all firearms lawfully moved in America. Distributors and wholesalers simply don’t want to set up shop where they may be forced out of business through over-restrictive regulation.

The BATFE has the ability to trace firearms manufactured or sold through dealers after 1968. The reasons for gun traces are as simple as trying to identify the owner of a gun that is believed to be lost or stolen. Also included in trace searches are guns turned in to police by people disposing of the possessions of their dead relatives. Most often, entire inventories of gun dealers become the subject of an investigative fishing expedition on a spot check basis. The vast majority of gun traces don’t involve a crime at all.

Traces are conducted by BATFE agents or inspectors who simply follow the paper trail for the guns. They begin with the manufacturer’s information of the date it was moved to a wholesale distributor. Then the wholesale distributor has records of the licensed dealers the gun was transferred to. From there The dealers maintain a lot of information on the retail buyer aside from name and address they have physical descriptions and information as to how they were cleared and by who at the FBI for the purchase.

The last known possessor of the firearm is contacted to see if he or she still has the firearm or for the disposition of it.

Guu traces can be requested of BATFE by any law enforcement agency for any reason.

Many thousands of weapons are found to have been confiscated by police, ordered destroyed by courts and still find their way back on to the streets of America. Thousands more guns including machine guns have been reported lost or stolen by government agencies such as the BATFE that's had constant problems safeguarding their own guns.

Is Your State Broke And Begging For A Bailout?

Sacramento, CA—Our favorite Terminator, turned Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a fiscal emergency saying California can’t pay its bills after February. He says they will pay vendors with an IOU.

That’s not surprising on a state run by Left Wing people that look to enslave their citizens to pay for so much crap nobody wants or needs. Now they look to people in more frugal states to pay for the mess they made.

I have a simple solution to help states like California and Illinois through their difficult times. My plan will reduce lots emissions, and also help save the planet. I propose this as a long term solution with no serious side-effects.

If this is an emergency like Governor Schwarzenegger any solution should be on the table.

Front vehicle license plates are of limited value, create pollution during manufacture and most importantly burns money. Many states like Arizona do fine without them.

Legislatures used to meet only once in two years. Now they furiously make new unneeded laws non-stop. They need to return to the old way and save us all serious money.

Our courts require public paid lawyers to travel great distances and spend hours in cars to attend court appearances where no evidence or testimony is presented such as a simple motion for a continuance. This should be done over the internet in real time teleconferencing.

Reduced workweeks will save on energy, pollution and government cost. Other than emergency service workers we can all save a bundle here.

We have all manner of licenses that expire in as little as a single year. Huge amounts of paperwork must be shuffled all over the state. Some of the licenses are for simple occupations like barbers. The same regulation and safety standards can be maintained by vastly extending time before license renewals. How may unnecessary paper chasers can we eliminate if we really tried?

We pay to house too many prisoners who are no longer a threat to public safety. They need to be cared for outside of expensive prisons. Well behaved and qualified prisoners should be allowed to work on our economy. They can certainly do the work illegal aliens are hired to do, pay for their upkeep and child support too. The prisoners can return to their cells after work.

Here is a twelve-step program to bring state governments back to health:

1. End manufacture of front license plate for vehicles.
2. Triple the amount of time before driver’s licenses are expired.
3. End vehicle emissions testing for all vehicles less than three years old.
4. Have State Assembly meet only once every two years.
5. Triple the Amount of time before any occupational license expires.
6. Triple the amount of time before business and notary licenses expire.
7. Require Courts to mandate internet teleconferencing for Motion, practice and hearings without sworn testimony.
8. Release all prisoners that are physically incapable by age or infirmity of criminal conduct.
9. Allow qualified non-dangerous prisoners to take legitimate jobs in the private workforce and pay for their food, housing, and child support while in prison.
10. Reduce state office hours, workweek and employee pay by five or eight hours.
11. Require state employees in large urban setting to pay for parking of personal vehicles.
12. Study ways to eliminate certain vice related laws and taxing the incomes of those workers.

Let Health Insurance or Medicare Pay For Your Next Pistol

Constitution Arms' offering may sound too good to be true and in fact may be too good to be true. They don’t even have a real photograph of a finished product yet. They claim to have an unusual pistol, made for people with less than full dexterity with their hands. Get a prescription for the thing and let someone else pay for your fun.

Would a physician dare write such a prescription for fear of litigation from Hell should there be an accident or crime? Somehow I don’t think so. I don’t think they will fill this prescription at your neighborhood Walgreens.

In any event here is the poop on this single shot 9MM curiosity.

Disabling Traffic Enforcement Cameras Can Happen!

Dallas, TX—A clever lawyer has shut down camera traffic enforcement in Texas. This valid legal angle can also be used against the companies that provide this service to governments in California, Illinois and Arizona.

The companies are unlawfully operating without required private investigation licenses in these states where they are required, The companies gather evidence to use in legal proceedings for compensation. That precisely why I’m required to have such a license for the work I do in those states.

Operating without a license is a criminal offense!

They can be forced under law to refund all monies collected unlawfully. I hope to see lawyers take up this and remove this tool that extorts money from citizens.

Here is a news report from by my old friend Carol Cavazos at CBS 11 News in Dallas.

Travis Munroe Townsend Is A Patriot, Not A Criminal!

Glendale, AZ—Arizonans are taxed to death. Many can barely afford to keep a roof over their heads, feed their families and must go without health insurance.

Despite this Arizona’s never ending supply of government bureaucrats have plush officers, take home vehicles and too many perks to mention. Arizona’s government grows faster than cancer. It’s become a monster that feeds on the backs of everyone and there is no control in sight.

Arizona has installed new speed cameras on Arizona highways that spit out well over 40,000 tickets in just two months of operation. Does Arizona have a huge accident problem that led to this draconian enforcement? No, but they have a revenue crisis because of over-spending and runaway government growth.

In the spirit that made this country, a Glendale man is accused of taking a pickaxe to a photo enforcement camera. Travis Munroe Townsend, 26, was charged with criminal damage, interference with a traffic-control device and criminal trespass.

The felony charges may well give Townsend grief for the rest of his life as the young man looks for employment opportunities. Hard hit by the cost of living in Arizona, is Townsend himself who works as a subsitute teacher. Townsend is an American patriot not an outlaw.

If ever there was a case for jury nullification and a Not Guilty verdict this is the one. Townsend’s “crime” is no more or less than that of those Americans that dumped tea into Boston Harbor so long ago. We need thousands more motivated freedom loving citizens just like Townsend to say no to runaway government.

Here is a press release from the Arizona Department of Public safety
on the traffic camera program.
