Guns, your family needs for self-defense.

Chicago, IL— I don’t care where you live in the world, sooner or later your town is going to experience war or a serious uprising.  Today, there’s no dispute that the police are simply unable to respond in time to stop any major crime in progress.

A gun or guns does not make you smarter, taller or braver.  Your weapons only give you a fighting chance to survive. There are no guarantees.

Like it or not you are the first responder when violence visits you and your loved ones.  Unfortunately, most Americans are totally unprepared to face any significant threat.

Every family member of suitable age and discretion should be trained in the use of various firearms.  Having plenty of guns but little ammunition is a losing proposition.  Professional training is by far the best.  When it comes to safety and conflict avoidance, everyone should become anal retentive.  You should avoid purchasing cheap guns unless you cannot afford anything else.

Now, just what guns should a family own?   First of all, everyone should have a suitable handgun, preferably semi automatic.  They should very from 9 mm, .45 caliber and .40 caliber.  Because of ammunition availability issues mixing the handgun calibers simply makes sense.  A quality holster is a must.

Shoulder fired weapons are definitely required.  Let me begin America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15 in 5.56 MM.  For the elderly and the handicapped this platform rifle is much easier to use than any handgun.  Secondly, I suggest a semi-automatic .12 gauge Law enforcement style shotgun that can accept 3 inch magnum shells.  The third weapon should be a decent .308 rifle with at least a four power scope.  The fourth weapon I recommend is a semi automatic 22 rifle such as the Ruger 1022.  .22 caliber ammunition is substantially less expensive.

If these weapons are owned by a properly trained family of four They can put up a formidable defense for homes and small businesses.

Today’s criminals run in packs unlike days of the past, when you would face only one or two criminals now you may face as many as a dozen.

You must always be aware that if you shoot at attackers from your home you may find that they set your house on fire.  Always try to find a nearby position of cover or concealment to return fire.

Aside from firearms, you need some solid trauma, first aid training.  You will need a trauma kit that contains tourniquets, combat style pressure dressings, hemostatic agents and plenty of gauze for packing wounds.   In times of war or unrest is going to be difficult or impossible to have an ambulance or paramedics respond to your injuries.

Additionally, I hope that you are reasonably stocked with water and non-perishable food because those shortages always happen during the most difficult times.

Please stay safe and prepared, and hopefully you can coordinate with trusted neighbors, friends, and relatives.

This Fellow Deserves A New And Bigger IPOD

This cool photo and story was found on Flicker the photo sharing website. I copied the information accompanying this photograph. The good news is that a young man is safe tonight, but Apple needs to replace his Ipod without charge for the free advertising.

“Photos sent to me by my friend Danny with this caption:
My wife’s uncle works in a military hospital and told me about this. It’s pretty amazing. Kevin Garrad (3rd Infantry Division) was on a street patrol in Iraq (Tikrit I believe) and as he rounded the corner of a building an armed (AK-47) insurgent came from the other side.

The two of them were within just a few feet of each other when they opened fire. The insurgent was killed and Kevin was hit in the left chest where his IPod was in his jacket pocket. It slowed the bullet down enough that it did not completely penetrate his body armor. Fortunately, Kevin suffered no wound.”

New Device Will Save Cop’s Careers

I’ve never been a fan of the Taser stun gun. They are a public relations nightmare in too many cases. The Westwood, CA, November 2006 UCLA library incident is an example where an 18-year veteran officer is battling the threat of unwarranted civil litigation. This in a land where the jury pool is polluted with extreme, Liberal cop haters. As for the UCLA officer’s continued employment, I suspect that’s shaky too in an academic institution top-heavy with the Liberal elite. The Taser carries the reputation with it of an ugly American past where cops used cattle prods on African-Americans to gain compliance in Southern states.

Personally, I would not have used the Taser in that UCLA incident only because I fear the predictable outcry and circus especially when applied to an unruly minority group member. Nobody seems to care that the UCLA case like so many others only injured the pride of the so-called victim.

At the Orlando, FL 2007 SHOT SHOW, I met with Taser representative, Jay Keyhoe who is a Connecticut cop. Keyhoe showed me a somewhat new accessory for that Taser device. The Taser Cam is a small digital video camera that captures all of the behavior and sound from the suspect. Because of the built-in microphone the entire verbal exchange is fully recorded too. This device will would perhaps end any and all questions as to how and why the Taser was used.

I knew that Taser intended to offer the camera nearly two years ago but I have not seen that concept materialize until now. The Taser International website does not yet show this offering. Taser does have a full-page photo ad featuring this on the back cover of this months POLICE magazine.

I suspect that California’s goofy law against surreptitious audio recording even when it’s your own conversation will interfere with deployment of this accessory in that state. The device can be altered to collect only the video if necessary. There is a law enforcement exception to the law that may well allow that audio recording. Security people would not be exempt from that law.

I think that this camera apparatus will go a long way to defuse incendiary and misleading descriptions of the use of the Tasers in the future. I anticipate this will save officer’s reputations, jobs and taxpayer dollars used for defending bogus lawsuits.
