The Swiss Denied Steve Cooley His Campaign Show Pony
Bern, Switzerland—The Swiss government formally announced that they have freed film director Roman Polanski. They will not be turning Polanski over to the star struck, Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley for more victimization in a court system rife with corruption.
Cooley needs Polanski or any high profile person to publicly torture and vilify to help is campaign for Attorney General of California.
There are thousands of older men that have impregnated California’s teen girls that go unpunished simply because nobody cares if those predators don’t have name recognition. Cooley knows Polanski would have been a wonderful campaign show pony to delight voters with.
Polanski will not be winning any humanitarian awards for his conduct more than three decades ago with a 13 year-old girl in Jack Nicholson’s hot tub. It’s interesting that Polanski’s victim had disclosed to police and prosecutors her two prior sexual encounters with other men. Those offenders were never were never sought by authorities for their crimes.
Polanski entered into a plea agreement in good faith and served time at the state prison in Chino as a result. The judge and prosecutor reneged on that agreement and Polanski fled. For four decades they covered up the corruption of the case and refused to give the Swiss investigative documents. The Swiss were absolutely right in putting an end to this exercise.
It was very un-Swiss like for this country’s government to involve themselves in the Polanski matter at all. I was In Geneva and Zurich shortly after Polanski’s arrest and I found the Swiss people to be very unhappy with their government over this case. That controversy caused the government to allow Polanski’s house arrest rather than keep him in jail while the official extradition decision was being made.
If I could vote in California Cooley would not get my vote over his sickening mishandling of celebrity cases. Celebrities fail sometimes but when they do they do not deserve more punishment that any other citizen.
Nobody deserves to be a politician’s show pony.

Roman Polanski Case Is Killing Lots Of Trees
Geneva, Switzerland—Last November I was privileged to be working in Geneva, and Lausanne Switzerland on a death penalty case. The Roman Polanski case was just getting started. Since then, they have killed an entire forest to make the paper to argue this case in two countries.
I learned that my Swiss friends were all angry that their country would dare meddle in the decades old foreign case. They were even angrier that Polanski was invited to Switzerland for a film award and arrested. It was somewhat like arresting a government diplomat.
The Swiss are known for their refusal to interfere with other countries legal squabbles. This whole affair has been handled very un-Swiss like by the Swiss government.
That being said I wanted in the worse way to investigate and report the state of this entire mess while I was there. That was impossible since I was up to my ears in the other matter. The other matter deserved my entire attention.
I wrote about the Polanski odyssey trying to reveal as much as I could under the circumstances. I have been blessed with contributions of information and such from readers. I’ve not seen fit to do more than let them post news articles and argument that for the most part supports Polanski as comments on the earlier stories. .
I’d love to have the funding to put together the, end all reveal of this entire debacle. I want to spend time in the Swiss and California courts covering this case exclusively until it’s finished.
Today I received the contribution of a recent filing of the Los Angeles County D.A. and will post it. I only wish I had every document from every court from every position to, publish.
I don’t hide my belief that Polanski has been punished enough and is the victim now of political grandstanding and judicial misconduct. He’s not seen the grave of his beautiful young wife who was murdered by the Manson Family in over 40 years. I say enough is enough.
Samantha Geimer, the now middle aged woman who Polanski was accused of molesting as a child has begged prosecutors to let the matter rest. She has been ignored.
Nobody but Polanski and Geimer know for sure what really happened and the case never was tested by a jury. We don't know what kind of "help" Geimer had with her statements to police. Was her statement colored by a parental effort to get a big civil court payday? We will never know.
Polanski pled guilty to a somewhat soft penalty and then the judge reneged on that plea agreement. Everyone conveniently forgets that in Europe the age of consent is a lot younger than California. In several American states there would never been a prosecution.
Polanski served time in the Chino State prison and was released only to learn he was about to get a much longer term. Polanski is a slight man and being sent to prison as a celebrity with a child molester label is horrifying to say the least. Polanski fled to France. France refused the request for extradition.
A huge question I ask is where have prosecutors been in the case of thousands of teen and pre-teen girls that have gotten pregnant? Rarely is there prosecutions in those cases. Is Polanski more important because he generates more headlines for prosecutors?
Polanski suffered grievously as a child under Nazi occupation, his native Poland was then occupied by the Communists and the lad to flee once again from the Bolsheviks to France. Despite all Polanski has become a legendary film maker who has entertained millions of people all over the world with his artistry.
In keeping with my effort to inform my readers I’m posting the entire brief filed by prosecutors. I will publish whatever I can under the circumstances. Oh what I’d give to have the funding to do this right!

Playing Politics With Roman Polanski
Los Angeles, CA—In a bankrupt state that is trying to figure a way to release 60,000 criminals from their prisons, it’s obvious that fugitive film director Roman Polanski is serving as pure entertainment. Is this just a way for L.A. County DA Steve Cooley to get some much needed press attention?
I know that despite a broken plea agreement, the fact that Polanski actually already served prison time or there was judicial and prosecutorial misconduct, many Americans want Polanski punished even more.
Public safety is hardly an issue since Polanski has not set foot on American soil in over three decades. At age 76, Polanski is incapable of ever committing any similar crimes again.
To facilitate the extradition taxpayers will be required to spend a bundle litigating the issue in a Swiss court. After that they must arrange secure taxpayer funded transportation and housing getting Polanski to Los Angeles. That is far from cheap.
Once Polanski arrives, tax payers get punished some more while the validity of the plea agreement that was broken by a corrupt judge is hashed out. Adding to this silliness is the fact that Samantha Greiner and her family want Polanski left alone. Chances are they will set Polanski free anyway and he may then be even able to travel to America freely. what’s the point of putting up this Circus? .
Putting Polanski in a costly international perp walk is a self-serving exercise for D.A. Steve Cooley.

Breaking News! Roman Polanski May Face Extradition To Los Angeles
Zurich, Switzerland—The Associated Press has reported that Swiss authorities have arrested fugitive film director, and Holocaust survivor, Roman Polanski.
The arrest was in connection with a warrant issued after Los Angeles authorities reneged on a plea agreement they entered into with Polanski, 76 on charges related to sexual activity with a willing 13 year old girl in 1977.
Recently in Los Angeles, lawyers for Polanski have taken up this matter asking that the warrant be quashed and any orders to punish Polanski outside the original plea agreement be vacated. So far the courts have ruled that in order for Polanski’s request to even be considered he must surrender to the court. That ruling is currently under appeal but may be mute if Polanski is returned to L.A.
Polanski had traveled to Zurich for a film festival where he was to receive an award. Instead Polanski was arrested.
Polanski will be able to contest his extradition before a Swiss court. We will have to wait and see what happens there.

Roman Polanski Files Motion To Dismiss Three Decade Old Criminal Case
Los Angeles—The Associated Press is reporting that lawyers for Academy Award winning film director, Holocaust survivor and fugitive Roman Polanski have filed a motion in the Superior Court seeking to have the 30 year-old charges dismissed.
The motion alleges new facts uncovered by a recent documentary film revealed prosecutorial and judicial misconduct. The HBO documentary, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired was released and reviewd earlier on this blog.
Polanski was prosecuted for consensual sexual relations with Samantha Geimer, then 13 years-old after a romp in actor Jack Nicholson’s hot tub.
Polanski had an incredibly difficult life where Nazi’s murdered his parents and the Manson Gang murdered his beautiful, young pregnant wife, Sharon Tate. Polanski served some prison time but after the late judge, Laurence Rrittenbrand reneged on a plea agreement Polanski fled to France.
Polanski has been punished enough, let him return in peace.

A Cursed and Charmed Life--A Story Beyond Belief.
It was a L.A. County Superior Court Press Release that called my attention to this story. The court was trying to do some damage control on a minor factual issue in the HBO documentary, Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired
If the Superior Court was complaining I had to see what the fuss was about. The court was going to be exposed for a horrible example of Celebrity Injustice.
In Poland, Roman Pulaski’s Catholic mother was murdered by the Nazi’s and his father was sent to a concentration camp. Polanski lived on a farm and after attending a film school the lad escaped from then Communist Poland to France, where he was born. Soon Polanski was living the American dream finding himself quickly thrust into film making and Hollywood’s A-List.
Polanski met and married the beautiful actress, Sharon Tate. While Polanski was in Europe the Manson Family butchered Tate and her friends. The murders were ritualistic in appearance and since Polanski directed Rosemary’s Baby some muck-raking members of the international media declared Polanski as the obvious suspect. He had to morn his pretty young wife and their unborn child under the cruelest of circumstances.
One night Polanski found himself in actor Jack Nicholson’s hot tub with a delightful, nude 13 year-old girl, Samantha Geimer. A lot of champaign had been consumed by both and there was sex. In most American states that’s considered a somewhat serious crime but in Europe they are more cavalier about such things.
Soon Polanski found himself in yet another international media firestorm. During my time as a criminal defense investigator I’ve worked two celebrity cases where I learned about Celebrity Justice. As an investigative TV news producer I've covered several others.
Celebrity Justice is inherently unfair because of media involvement and the serious matter of cops, prosecutors and Judge’s behavior throughout these cases. Instead of just doing their jobs human nature prompts these players to perform and bask in their new found fame. Caught in the glare of the media floodlights was Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Laurence Rrittenbrand.
The alleged victim, Samantha Geimer and her parents did not want to see Polanski imprisoned of even jailed. A plea bargain was struck. Because of despicable judicial shenanigans by Judge Rittenbrand things became incredibly convoluted. Polanski was ordered to surrender to California’s Chino State Prison for an evaluation period of six weeks. There is nothing pretty about a diminutive young celebrity like Polanski getting sent to prison on a child sex beef. That punishment in and of itself could be a death sentence. Polanski served his time.
Soon the Judge demanded more imprisonment even though nobody, including prosecutors and probation officials were asking for that. Polanski understandably was distrustful, frightened and fled to France. France refused to allow Polanski’s extradition.
Polanski did not authorize the documentary which included participation by most people still alive today including, Samantha Geimer. Grimer forgave Polanski long ago and was an honored guest at the New York Premier of this documentary film.
Polanski is 74 years-old today and has since won an Academy Award as a Director. He’s been punished and victimized more in his life than most people on our planet. The documentary is first rate and a must see for court watchers and people working within the justice system..
It’s time for a California Governor to issue a pardon to Polanski while he is still alive for humanitarian reasons.
Watch an interview with the documentary director!
