Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, Move Over Raj Singh is here!
Chicago, IL--Im close to a Sikh family for well over 40 years. The patriarch, Harbans Singh founded Eagle Grips. That company makes incredible handgun grips out of excotic materials . Eagle Grips have graced magazine covers and their designs are the best anywhere.
Harbans retired a while back and now the CEO is my pal Raj Singh. Raj likes motorcycles and has a small collection along with his showpiece is a Harley Davidson. While I was there I shot some GoPro Video of Raj including aerial via a Phantom 2 quadcopter.
Yes, I'm have too much fun with the quadcopter…

You better think of a good teaser hook to make people watch your video!
Los Angeles, CA—As a blogger
and multimedia journalist I occasionally put up videos here on Crimefile News.
Currently time and lack of
funding precludes me from putting up more video. Getting people to watch your video no matter
how good it is challenging. You need to
tease people with hot button words we’ve all seen.
“You better watch this video
before the censors take it down!” “Watch
Ms. X destroy so and so in this video!”
“Watch Mr. X meltdown under tense questioning!” “This video will make you break out the
tissues!” Frankly these are getting
very old. They’ve been used and abused
and I refuse to fall for them anymore.
The truth is that Internet
viewers are incredibly impatient and loading videos for some can be a slow
process. When you add in that many
videos turn out to be a disappointment that don't deliver on the promised hype you
better be creative rather than deceptive.
Putting in the proper key
words or meta tags in crucial. Having an
exciting thumbnail or start image is important.
Videos need to be clear with
great audio. They need to be short and always leaving the viewer wanting more.
There are other rules
regarding multiple angles and static shots that were established in the past
few decades. Are those rules
evolving?
GoPro cameras are high
definition cameras in a tiny waterproof package. They are incredibly for point of view video
and action shots. They go where other
cameras simply cant. Additionally people
don’t shy from them like they do the more noticeable cameras they are used to
seeing.
I’m no expert on video but I
have played with the equipment since it became affordable 20 years ago. It’s getting better and cheaper every day.
Viewers really don’t want
junk. They want to be taken somewhere
away from their surroundings and dull lives.
I put up a video a few weeks
ago at the largest gun show in the world in Las Vegas. It’s called the SHOT Show. The video is not about guns but rather how
the show is set up and my actual experience in Sin City.
The video shows my experience
from my own point of view. I broke lots
of established video rules.
My intent was to show you
what those few days were like through my eyes.
Yes, I shot this all on a GoPro Hero 3+ . I edited the video on Final Cut Pro X. Along with post production, unscripted
voiceovers. I also added some
copyrighted music for the mood.
My pals that love guns would
want me to stop and spend time with the actual products but the video would be
four days long. This was really a SHOT
Show teaser. There is little substitute
for actually attending this massive show.
A sign of a successful video
is that people think it was shorter than it actually was. So ignore the time markers until after you’ve
seen the video. Then compare your time
impression with the actual time of the video.
I kept it simple reducing
four days into minutes. I’d like
comments on the video.

A Thirteen Minute Peek at the 2014 Las Vegas SHOT Show
Las Vegas, NV—Firearms, and
accessory manufacturers, along with law enforcement and hunting related
exhibitors filled the Sands Convention Center last week.
Some 67,000 people attended
and Sin City got a needed financial boost.
Local businesses benefit along with the tax coffers.
What’s so amazing is that cities like
Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC will never get that financial benefit
of this or the NRA Annual Meeting, Convention and Exhibit. If we ever came to these cites we’d all wind up
wearing handcuffs and watch our property confiscated.
With all the guns and gun
toting attendees there are never accidents or any kind of violence in the
cities we visit. The crime rate goes
down because the local thugs all know they are in for a serious challenge if
they try and victimize these convention visitors. More guns never brings more crime.
The SHOT Show is huge. Covering the show as a full time multimedia
journalist is impossible for me because I have certain commitments I must keep that
prevents me from getting out on the show floor with my camera gear.
This year I brought a tiny
GoPro 3+ camera and shot video with my pals at Eagle Grips both in the
Convention Center and after hours.
I have put together a 13
minute video with some cool music that’s blocked in Europe and by some cell
phone and mobile devices.
If you can, please enjoy the
video.

The New Importance of Handgun Grips and the Aftermarket
Carol Stream, IL—In the Western suburb of The Windy City
stands a business called Eagle Grips. I
have had a personal association with this firm since it began in 1971. Back then I was a young cop just out of the
Army. I always liked guns so when I
could get off on weekends I’d hit local gun shows.
Back then there were fewer gun bans and the gun shows were
larger however the selection of available guns and accessories were limited by
today’s standards. Aftermarket gun
grips were the made by a few companies and the pickings were slim. That changed for me when I saw a Sikh Indian
man at a table exhibiting grips at the then popular Waukegan Gun Show.
At the time gun grip materials were usually either made from
walnut wood or rubber. The choices were
limited. There are problems with rubber
grabbing your clothes and printing out through your clothing with telltale signs
that you’re packing heat. Walnut wood
is too soft and for grips and the material must be sealed with some type of
varnish. Walnut is such a bland looking
wood that it hurts my eyes.
The Sikh fellow was exhibiting really gorgeous rosewood and
ebony wood grips. The colors were much
richer than what Colt, Smith & Wesson or Ruger was putting on their stock
products. I was so impressed I bought
two sets from him. That was the
beginning of a terrific love affair with a company’s products and a lasting
friendship with that Sikh man, Harbans Singh.
Singh learned I was a cop and asked my lots of questions in
relation to law enforcement needs and product design. Ever since I’ve been heavily involved on a
part time basis with product development and design. Additionally I handle public relations for
the firm and attend several of the largest gun shows in the world each
year. That firm is, Eagle Grips.
Harbans retired and his son Raj Singh is now the President and CEO. The younger Singh had grown
up with guns, gun enthusiasts, firearms trainers, cops, collectors and firearms journalists. Raj Singh has followed in his father's footsteps.
Why do you need after market grips for your handguns?
Essentially every handgun other than the polymer frame guns
like Glock come with grips from the factory.
They are generally well designed and attractive but why settle for the
routine if you don’t have to? Additionally factory grips almost fit nobody's hands! This is Where Eagle Grips has take the lead.
Your handgun is an important part of you if you are like me
and carry one. It’s the first thing you
see when you wake up and the last thing you see before going to sleep. Your gun is a highly prized personal item
and should be personalized to your needs, taste and style. We are all different and now we can demand
that our guns reflect our persona. Once
you’ve seen Eagle’s products you will want to banish walnut and rubber from
your life.
Eagle offers real ivory, Mother of Pearl, Sambar Stagg,
Rosewood and Ebony Wood. In addition
there are some polymer and synthetic offerings that mimic the natural
materials.
Suddenly the game was changed when Raj Singh sought to bring
color into the otherwise drab world of gun grips. A new process was discovered to make the most
durable and terrific grip material ever!
It is called Kirinite. The colors
are incredibly vivid and the selection is limitless. The material must be cut, shaped and polished
like gems. The more you polish the
material the more it adheres to your hands!
The material is not in anyway slippery.
Additionally it is impervious to scratching, dulling or breakage.
Knife makers just love working with Kirinite have take it to
new heights. Now you can have your gun
grips match your favorite knife! This truly
the age for the personalization of your
security hardware. You can order all of
Eagle Grip’s material from their website at www.eaglegrips.com.
Meet my dear friend Raj Singh:

Grips From Eagle Grips Will Personalize Your Guns
Carol Stream, IL—In this western Chicago suburb is a
business I’ve been associated with for over four decades, Eagle Grips. It’s a high end gun grip maker that has
graced hundreds of gun magazine cover throughout the world.
They offer genuine ivory, Sambar Stag, Mother of Pearl and
American Elk Grips along with Rosewood and Ebony wood.
Now they developed a new process creating a
material called Kirinite. I can’t
describe this material anything short of elegant and wonderful. The material is impervious to dulling or
scratching and the grips stick to the hands and fingers of the shooters. Every possible property you’d ever want.

Rich Color Has Finally Come to Handgun Grips
Carol Stream, IL—I recently suggested to my friend Raj Singh, President of Eagle Grips that he needs to shake up the gun world with some color. I had no clue what rich materials he’d find or just how fantastic they'd look.
The material is so incredible that photo images can’t seem to capture the true luster and beauty of the gem quality material that must be cut shaped and polished into the finished product.
Of course the traditional materials of rosewood, ebony wood, stagg, elk Mother of Pearl and ivory are still available but there is that special occasion handgun needs something different.
Visit Eagle Grips at www.eaglegrips.com and see the entire line.
American Handgunner Magazine editor Roy Huntington recently gave me his impression of the new material.
