Growing Pains Has Put a Two and a Half Men Star at Odds With His Show

Los Angeles, CA—I have to admit it I enjoy watching the original Two and a Half Men Show a lot.  It is filled with references to Charlie Sheen’s lust for sex, drugs, rock and roll.  There is no sexual subject off limits in this masterpiece of satire.  Is this really an icon of our moral decay?  I don’t think so.  Unless of course you take the story’s line too seriously.
To understand the world we live in these racy subjects should not be off limits but perhaps displayed as an example of the irreverence, excess and self-destruction.  The show’s characters are all flawed and dysfunctional.  This is comedy and all comedy is born of pain.  We laugh as these fictional people are put through their paces.
We can’t take this show seriously because it’s fiction and fantasy. It’s a vehicle for us to put aside our own misfortunes or challenges and laugh at the show’s humor.
From time to time I’d considered the lad Angus T. Jones who plays Jake a little young for the show's content. .  He got his sex education at breakneck speed on this show.  Along the way the young Jones lad has been financially set for life and has a bright future.  Just what he wants to do with it will be up to him but I doubt that he’s been ruined by the show.
Jones has recently suggested that the viewers of the show should discontinue watching.  He’s taken exception to the show’s moral compass or rather the lack of one.  He’s apparently become influenced by religion and feels that the show helps foster and promote bad behavior.
I say it’s a sad day when art dictates to anyone how life should be lived.   I think we all understand that our basic humanity and hearts tell us right from wrong.  We all know these fictional characters are somewhat extreme and too often morally bankrupt.  I just don’t view this show as a behavioral influence.  Maybe I’m giving too much credence to my fellow human beings.
As for the young super-star, Jones, and this participation in this somewhat decadent, crude and rude show he is now living on Easy Street.  He can get formal education that others can only dream about while he lives in safe neighborhoods and commutes in a very reliable automobile.   He will be able to marry and raise his own children without most of the desperate challenges most Americans have to deal with.
We cannot dismiss that Jones has had to work very hard keeping up with difficult shooting schedules and promotional efforts.  This of course while completing schoolwork for his normal development.
Is young Jones suddenly ungrateful?  I don’t see that at all.  He’s just trying like all of us to find his own way to live a productive and meaningful life.  If anything I believe the show has made him more aware of how he should, live, love and stay healthy.
Here is young Jones’s take on the show that made him rich well before he completed puberty.  I think this lad will figure it all out and know what’s right for him.

Charlie Sheen and Two And A Half Men Must Reunite

Los Angeles, CA—I don’t watch television beyond some news programming. Most television is total crap especially with all the poorly contrived reality programming.

I got hooked on Two and a Half Men after seeing it on several airline flights. The show is hilarious and the original cast is wonderful. The writing is top notch and Charlie Sheen has proven himself to be a gifted actor and comedian.

No group of humans can create an entertainment masterpiece without a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Sometimes people become unreasonable and also very hurtful. We can guess what happened between the show’s creative geniuses, Lee Aronsohn, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen. They had a falling-out that appeared to be beyond nasty and Sheen began a journey into an abyss.

I was hoping the hyped meltdown was just a clever Hollywood publicity stunt. That seemed unlikely when they cast Ashton Kutcher as a replacement for Charlie Sheen.

Kutcher has obvious entertainment chops and a fan base but he does not seem to fit into this dysfunctional group of characters. The show must go in with the terminally edgy Charlie Sheen or it’s over for good.

The rest of the cast and crew deserve to continue on without the premature death of Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper. That can only happen by CBS and this group of entertainers arriving at a decision to bury old garbage and give their audience what they want. If that happened the show would be more popular than ever. That would simply translate into cold hard needed cash.

As for Kutcher he was caught in the middle of this mess and there are contractual issues to deal with for sure. That’s something that can be dealt with later.

Charlie Sheen may have been a disappointment to people in a lot of different ways but as an entertainer he’d only disappoint by failing sharing his entertainment gift. Charlie Sheen needs to continue wearing those ugly shirts and doing what he does best. Charlie Sheen, CBS and Chuck Lorre need to write more television history by catering to their audiencce.

Sheen TV—Wayne’s World On Steroids!

Sherman Oaks, CA—Charlie Sheen is embroiled in a media war unpatrolled anywhere in history. I’m not sure what’s really going on in Sheen’s world. For all I know this whole apocalypse could be nothing more than a giant publicity stunt.

By all appearances this multi-millionaire is going through a meltdown fueled by alcohol, drugs and the largest ingredient, massive ego. Is this all just an act? There is no shortage of comedy, heartbreak and drama in this media Armageddon.

“Sheen’s Korner” broadcasts are done with a simple computer with broadband, a cheap camera and ordinary household lighting. Anyone, almost anywhere could do better quality broadcasts than Sheen has produced so far. The public lure of Sheen’s broadcasts seems to be sheer morbid voyeurism.

Sheen’s normally clean-cut TV appearance is embellished by the best TV make-up people who are noticeably and sorely needed for, Sheen’s Korner. He certainly looks like he’s on an extended bender on his show.

Should Sheen, CBS, Warner Brothers and the show’s creator resumed, Two and a Half Men right now it would break every ratings record ever established.

Sheen is a devilishly clever lad and born showman. Is there perhaps more to, Charlie Sheen’s Winning than meets the eye?

I personally want Sheen to succeed. Sheen’s many talents have enabled so many people to realize the American dream with lucrative employment connected to Sheens projects.

If as most people suspect, Sheen is going through a dark period of illness, addiction and the road to suicide, this is beyond tragic.

Sheen above all has to be a father to his young children. Yes, he can support them incredibly well but he has a more important duty and that’s to be their role model.

If Charlie is suffering from illness he needs treatment and those bridges that were burned must all be rebuilt by all involved. Those people who have been hurt need to do the right thing and that’s to help this fellow in spite of himself.

I want this war over, the show to continue and everyone involved to profit like they never have before. That can happen. Sheen’s young life hangs in the balance. Sheen and his family deserve a better entertainment effort than, Charlie sheen’s Winning. Sheen could easily retire in a grand lifestyle, but I insist that he also has an obligation to share his talent with the world. Let’s hope this was all just a grand publicity stunt.

Charlie Sheen, Demons, Lawyers and CBS

Hollywood, CA—I was not going to weigh in on this story until I began to think of the huge collateral damage caused by the abrupt cancellation of, Two and A Half Men.

Estimates of the financial loss to CBS are an astronomical, quarter-billion dollars. The show was wildly successful during a period when people everywhere have been avoiding television altogether. The show was the main choice of our airlines to entertain passengers in the sky. Yes, the show is downright funny and the players all have great chemistry.

At the heart of this mess is a talented, handsome but troubled Charlie Sheen. Exhibitionistic excessive womanizing, drug and alcohol consumption has taken center stage. That behavior seems to now be pushing Sheen out in the cold.

Sheen has been reckless not only with his own blessed career but the careers of everyone connected to the show. I don’t want to see this quality show end. The losers will include the fans

America’s Drug War is beyond an abject failure. It has destroyed many more lives than the drugs themselves if that’s possible. It has also torpedoed the basic freedom that made this once great county. Americans still believe that drugs are bad and enforcement is good. The Drug War was absolute proof that propaganda is a powerful tool.

Sheen has opened a very public war of vitriol with the show’s creator and CBS. The dispute is as ugly as anything this town has ever seen. There is no end to the disaster in sight.

Let’s talk about Sheen’s chemical dependence. There are loads of so-called experts on this subject and they all have one thing in common, failure. I say there are no experts and we must let nature take its course. The treatment programs are meaningless exercises fueled by relapse. Either Sheen will survive or he won’t and only he, not the government, CBS or anyone else can do anything about it.

One thing for sure, Sheen has gotten through eight season of his show and despite his difficulties has avoided interruption. The current stoppage is not because sheen could not perform but over the publicity generated by off-duty behavior deemed scandalous by our society’s moral code.

What must happen is that Sheen needs calm down and try to behave. I want a ceasefire and the two sides to negotiate a settlement that includes the resumption of the show with Sheen provided he shows up sane and sober with the proviso he can deliver the product he has for the last eight years.

CBS and Sheen are not so big or tough that they can’t put this mess where it belongs, behind them. Quality shows are too difficult to come by in the vast wasteland of television.

The only people that will profit from this continued public battle are the bottom-feeding lawyers that are gearing up for years of great paydays. In the meantime the rest of the cast and crew of the show have to learn how they will be making car and mortgage payments.

As for Sheen he like all of us is aging. His shelf-life in entertainment is too short to endanger his health and that of the people that count on their's and Sheen's ability for survival.

Charlie Sheen is may be very rich with money but he is impoverished in many other ways. His dad, Martin Sheen for example is one truly fine human being. The elder Sheen can only be suffering greatly right now because of this mess.

If I could I’d lock all of these players in a room together and not let anyone eat, drink or use the bathroom until they could resolve this in a way that does not hurt innocent people.

In the world of entertainment the only real truth is that, the show must go on. This show must go on too!
