Thinking of renting from Avis or Hertz? Well, buckle up — because you’re not just renting a car, you’re rolling the dice with your freedom. These “professional” rental giants have a jaw-dropping history of filing bogus police reports claiming customers stole cars they already returned. Yes, you heard right — their recordkeeping is so stunningly incompetent it makes a government agency look efficient.
Thanks to their breathtaking sloppiness, innocent people have been arrested, convicted, and even thrown in jail — all because someone at Avis or Hertz apparently can’t tell the difference between a returned vehicle and a stolen one. And guess what? They’ve had to cough up millions in damages… and yet, somehow, they keep screwing it up.
I’m personally working on one of these horror shows right now in Los Angeles. So here’s some priceless advice: When you return that rental, whip out your phone and record the whole thing. Get the license plate, the drop-off, the lot attendant yawning in the background — everything. Because if (when) they mess up, you won’t get a polite phone call — you’ll get arrested, handcuffed, and hauled away from your job, your home, or wherever you happen to be breathing at the time, courtesy of a shiny warrant you didn’t even know existed.
Welcome to the magical world of corporate irresponsibility — enjoy your rental!
