Malibu, CA—I weighed in yesterday on this story and I'm somewhat disappointed in
many people including some of my own friends. Many of the comments I received are not fit
to print.
Bruce Jenner was an unquestioned world-class athlete and sports
hero. Jenner for the most part enjoyed a
charmed life of wealth while he was always in the close company of beautiful
women. Now with a medically facilitated sex change Bruce is now Caitlyn.
This non-political story has the political Right and Left taking sides. That makes no sense to me.
This non-political story has the political Right and Left taking sides. That makes no sense to me.
There was an apparent downside to this charmed life in the form of a life long desire for Jenner to be a
woman. Experts differ on the cause or
pathology this peculiar sex confusion phenomenon.
Jenner is not alone since there are apparently millions of similar examples of
transgendered people in our world.
The so-called experts have no concrete answers, cure or even an
effective treatment for this malady. There are those that call Jenner insane,
sick, perverted or worse. We seem to judge insanity on the failure of people to reasonably function in their daily lives. I don't think anyone could label Jenner that way. Perhaps those people concerned or worried need to get a life.
Transgendered people are historically non-violent and there
is little evidence that they have any negative impact at all on society. Why are some people concerned enough about
Jenner to condemn, complain or hate what Jenner does with the remaining years
of his/her life?
Jenner deserves some slack from everyone. This thing will play out in a high profile
and public manner at least until the novelty wears off. Jenner will make a mountain of cash that will soon
find its way to his/her children and grand children.
Should this transgender situation wipe out an otherwise
amazing and productive life? Is there
some reason to believe that suddenly Jenner will suddenly become unkind, evil or even
homicidal? Jenner has an absolute right
to present and or promote the new persona “Caitlyn”. Life is far too short for anyone possibly
offended to concern himself or herself with Jenner’s new life.
Now if anyone can tell me how this Jenner transgender thing
will damage society feel free to let me know.
Paul, your thoughts echo my own. Who is Bruce hurting? Not me. If it improves his happiness, great!
ReplyDeletePaul:
ReplyDeleteYou do understand that tansgenderism is a mental illness and that there is no way to biologically change your gender don’t you? My opinion here isn’t bigotry - it is fact. It is a scientific fact and biology is a true science.
You’re not doing any of these unfortunate individuals any favors by pretending that they’re confusions are normal. The suicide rate among transgendered people who had reassignment surgery is 20 times higher than in the normal population. Reassignment surgery is not a solution to their problem. In all likelihood Bruce Jenner will end his days in torment and take his own life.
If you think you’re being his friend your not.
It may not hurt society but do we have to celebrate it,publicize it, make a hero out of this guy? Gal? Whatever?
ReplyDeleteJenner’s transition here is huge news more because of his standing as a world-class athlete and sports hero. The press internationally is talking about this.
ReplyDeleteThe medical experts are somewhat divided about how to deal transgender conditions. One thing for sure, transgender people are at a high suicide risk. My thoughts are that it’s over relentless bullying and condemnation by many of their family members and friends.
I’ve not taken a positive or negative position on what Jenner is doing because I don’t think I’m qualified. However I am a guardian of American liberty and will protect people’s rights under our Bill of Rights. I will protect Jenner’s rights here.
I refuse to now degrade or discount Jenner’s amazing accomplishments of the past. I don’t think there is a valid reason to condemn or even disapprove of Jenner because he wants to be a woman.
It’s society that will judge Jenner and so far it looks like Caitlyn is on the fast track to become the richest fashion model ever. I don’t need to promote Jenner since that job is being done quite well by others.
Okay, you obviously don’t understand what I am saying to you. Jenner is not now a woman nor will he ever be a woman. He is only pretending to be a woman and his womanly features are only maintained by altering his natural biology with a highly invasive regime of medication.
ReplyDeletePaul, you can not change your gender like changing your shoes and all this fellow has done is mutilate his body and that is nothing to celebrate.
In fact its quite sickening. This entire topic is quite sickening but of course seeing the truth is to be considered deviant. You’re not just lowering the standards of normality you’re making the normal wrong!
That is how insanity like this hurts society and if you can’t see that you can’t see anything.
Jenner is not costing me money, nor is he creating any problems for me whatsoever. There is no reason for me to try and dictate to Jenner how to live the gift of life.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure the science of surgical sex changing is not perfect. What makes a woman? We’ve seen great examples and disappointing examples.
Is Jenner simply a guy in a dress? Who really cares outside of Bruce/Caitlyn? No law can or should dictate what Jenner wears. I’m sure Muslim extremists would murder Jenner in places like Iran.
Too many people are trying to interfere with Jenner’s rights and life now and it makes no sense.
The transgendered person’s disorder is in the person’s “assumption” that they are different than the physical reality of their body, their maleness or femaleness, as assigned by nature. It is a disorder similar to a “dangerously thin” person suffering anorexia who looks in the mirror and thinks they are overweight.
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason to believe that Jenner is going to be happier acting out his dysfunction on a daily basis and some hospitals refuse to perform gender reassignment surgery because the subsequent psycho-social adjustments of their patients were no better than those who didn’t have the surgery.
Maybe you don’t know any of this Paul but Jenner is a very sick individual and it might not cost you anything out of your pocket to let him wallow in his misery but where is your humanity?
If he kills himself it is not going to be my fault for not embracing his illness as normal - it will be yours for encouraging him.
I predicted all of this years ago when the push to make homosexuality acceptable began. Now that we have accepted homosexuality as being normal, is apparent that convincing the public that transgenderism is normal is next on that list of things that the left want to accomplish. After that I predict it will be bestiality. If a man wants to have sex with an animal who are we or anyone else to say it's wrong? And then, get ready for it, will come pedophilia. I predict that in years to come that there will be a push by the left to convince society that both are a right and are normal. I may have the order of things wrong but not the subjects. We do after all have NAMBLA and the ACLU already lists them as a client.
ReplyDeletePaul, With all of that photo shopping they could make you look good..
ReplyDeleteBeing a life long denigrator of our sports obsessed society, I confess I hardly even remember who this guy was. So to that degree I don't give the proverbial rat's patoot about the whole business. No matter how much it is promoted, this person will not be making as much as a nickel from me.
ReplyDeleteAs far as damage to society goes, this incident is clearly a symptom not a cause. American news organizations have always had something of an appetite for strange tales going back to the time of H. L. Mencken.
But at a time when there are factions that want to drag us deeper into mid-east wars and others seemingly wishing to provoke race wars on the domestic front, this kind of rubbish is what passes as 'news'.
The expression 'panem et circenses' comes to mind.
His problem is not his plumbing, it's his wiring.
