A police officer was critically injured early Monday in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.
The attack occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Hermitage Avenue, police said.
The male officer was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
Police backup and an ambulance were called to the scene.
Police dispatch said officers were searching for a blue vehicle with four male occupants that might have fled north from the scene of the shooting.
Two vehicles found at undisclosed locations were being inspected in connection with the case as of 1:45 a.m., police said.
Details to come.
May the Lord restore this officer to health. St. Michael the Archangel pray for us!
ReplyDeleteOfficers are being killed and maimed at an exponentially high rate and the CPD manpower crisis is being ignored. Paul please make a mention of the terrible shortage of police officers on the CPD and the hazzards it poses to the citizens and to fellow officers.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to mention the unfair disciplinary system in place on the CPD. Officers want to work and do their jobs but are terrified of being the next victim of civil suits, stripping, suspension, termination, psyching and public media ridicule.
ReplyDeleteAnother warrior hero has fallen and will always be remembered by his fellow warriors!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce again a CPD officer is truly heroic in death by donating his very body so that others may have life.
Brother, let the Lord reward you righteously.
